OSCAR Awards 2022

OSCAR Awards 2022, happened on March 27 and It was the day when Will Smith punched the show host

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) presented the 94th Academy Awards  or Oscars Awards on March 27, 2022, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, honouring the most notable films released between March 1 and December 31, 2021. Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes hosted the event. Multiple hosts were available for the first time since the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011. CODA took home the Best Picture award, while Dune took home the most prizes.

Nominees for the Academy Award for Best Picture have a large audience.

Except for Dune, which made over $400.6 million worldwide, and West Side Story, which grossed $75.2 million, most of the films nominated for Best Picture failed at the box office due to the epidemic as they did at the previous ceremony. According to a Morning Consult study issued on March 22, 2022, these two had the highest awareness of the ten nominated films. They appealed to viewers, with 66 percent of 45,000 respondents indicating they had heard of West Side Story and 54 percent stating the same about Dune. According to the study, 22% of the same respondents had seen the complete film Don’t Look Up, followed by 19% who had seen Dune and 16% who had seen West Side Story.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Nightmare Alley was streamed in 3.1 million homes in the United States on HBO Max and Hulu by March 20, 2022, including 2.1 million since the Oscar nomination announcements on February 8, the highest number of any Best Picture candidate, followed by West Side Story on Disney+ and HBO Max in 1.9 million households.

Will Smith and Chris Rock get into a fight?

Chris Rock joked to Jada Pinkett Smith on stage when presenting the prize for Best Documentary Feature that he was looking forward to a sequel to G.I. Jane, a reference to her short hairdo. Pinkett also suffers from alopecia, which has caused her to lose some of her hair. Will Smith, Pinkett Smith’s husband, rose from his seat near the stage seconds later, marched up to Rock, and punched him. “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking lips!” Smith repeatedly said after resuming his seat

The audio was muffled by ABC in the United States but not by overseas broadcasters such as TNT in Latin America, Seven Network in Australia, and wow in Japan. The unfiltered video instantly became a social media sensation. In under forty minutes, Smith won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Short Film, centering his speech on his desire to protect people around him and apologizing to the Academy but not to Rock. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Rock declined to file a police complaint or charges against Smith for hitting him.
